The 108 standard form is a sequence of movements practiced for health, mental well being and for self-defence. This form is taught using a counting system aimed at breaking down each form into bite-sized micro-movements making it easier for beginners to learn.

The 108 standard form is the core of Wu style tai chi chuan where every micro-movement has a specific health or self-defence purpose and regular practice of this form brings accuracy of movement providing a basic skeleton for learning this art.

It takes on average a year for an individual to learn the 108 standard form, however this depends on the individual and some may learn this faster or slower than others.

The 108 standard form can be taught in a one hour or 90 minute class which can include anything from the beginners syllabus. Once learnt to completion this form can be practiced within 20-25 minutes at a medium pace.
